Nobody Talks About It — But We Should.
Jealousy is one of the most intense human emotions — and yet, we almost never talk about it. While society openly discusses trauma, anxiety, and self-worth, jealousy remains taboo. ..And that’s risky, because jealousy is, arguably, the most powerful motive behind violence between the sexes.
It fuels arguments, emotional abuse, even murder — not because it’s ignored, but because it’s acted upon without understanding.
Why Is It So Powerful? Jealousy often builds quietly, fed by fear, insecurity, and comparison. Men are statistically more likely to express it through aggression — but that doesn’t mean women don’t feel it just as deeply. They might just express it differently: emotionally, subtly, or inwardly. Either way, it’s crucial to distinguish between normal jealousy (an emotional reaction) and pathological jealousy — the obsessive, controlling, or dangerous kind. Jealousy becomes destructive when it takes over without reflection — when it becomes a justification for control, manipulation, or harm.
What Can We Do About It?
Be aware. Jealousy thrives in impulsivity.
Recognize it. Pause.
Understand it. It’s not about the other person — it’s about your fear: of being abandoned, replaced, unworthy.
Control it. Emotional regulation is a choice.
Learn to pause, reflect, and shift your energy.
Shift focus. Don’t anchor your value in someone else’s actions. Focus on what gives you meaning. Balance. Fill your life with more than one source of joy, identity, and purpose.
Know who you are and do everything in your power to respect and like yourself.![]()
A grounded self doesn’t need to police love — it radiates it. Jealousy is not a flaw — it’s a signal. But when we act on it blindly, it becomes a weapon.
Let’s stop glorifying or denying it — and start understanding it.
Because real power is not in being fearless, but in facing fear with clarity. ![]()
